“The best way to describe my spirituality, I suppose is in what I do rather than what I think. I meet up with some others and we celebrate the seasonal changes. If I need something new in my life, I’ll draw a picture of it, or write about and light a candle to bring it into being. If I need to get something out of my life I let go into water and cleanse it away. I paint figures from legend, I learn their stories and retell them and I light candles for them and collect interesting objects to put around the pictures I made. I go outdoors and soak it in and gaze out hoping to see fairies, but I am more likely to see the fairies in my dreams. Although the way the shadows fall on the leaves outside my window at night sure looks like lots of funny faces. I came into this way of seeing things because my mom is somewhat new age, and because I took Celtic Studies courses in University, where I met others like me.” That is what I wrote up to explain my beliefs/practices to strangers without feeling scared. I hope it helps you a little to see how someone else who was scared handled it.
