We are told to want a romantic relationship that is the center of your life. A place to live with said partner. A job that funds all that. Some free time for what you like to do and some time with family and friends.
We are told that we are supposed to do what we love for a living. That the money will come if you seek your dreams. That anyone can make their hobby into a successful business. You are supposed to find ways to monetize your passions.
I would like to propose two radical things:
You can have whatever you want (within reason).
You don’t actually have to want those things that you are supposed to want that much.
And a third thing to propose:
There is nothing wrong with that.
Think about it, what actually you want, versus what you are supposed to want. And then focus your attention on it as much as possible.
