Ostara was a month ago. Easter is this Sunday. Easter was not stolen from the elusive ‘us’. Easter is a beautiful holiday and deserves every ounce of respect you want for your own traditions. It’s sad that holidays and celebrations that should bring people together are spent arguing and fighting over origins and ownership. Nobodyowns the calendar, the Sabbat, the celebrations or holidays. Box up your hate and log off the internets. Nobody needs the negativity of your wrongfully directed anger.
Easter and Ostara are vastly different. And thanks be to all that is good that they aren’t the same. Ostara is a celebration of spring and the fertility of the land and the warm sun. Easter is the celebration about how all humans are sinners and that a peaceful good man had to be crucified on a cross to pay for those sins so that all humans have a chance to reborn and live in heaven after death too. And then after being dead for a bit, the pact was sealed and he rose to heaven, where those that agree with it all get to go to heaven to when they die too.
They aren’t even remotely similar except in how and when they are celebrated.

In any case, discussion of the origins of many of Easter’s customs, and comparison and contrast to pagan systems fits with most of the definitions of respect as listed above from the dictionary.
