So my roommate is dating a new girl, Alysha. When she was over the first time–she spied our bedroom altar. Alysha got pretty excited, I guess she wrote a paper on paganism or wicca or something. So she wanted to meet me. Not a lot of folks have been over to my house, but I have altars everywhere, and I have a huge kitchen nook that serves as my altar room. I have stuff going on everywhere. We used to put our Yule tree in that area, so I am busily trying to figure out how to arrange the room to make space for it. She was really fun, and she wanted me to do a tarot reading for her. I did one, but it was strange, because I had already done two tarot readings about her for my roommate Al. I am glad she didn’t ask me a question on a romance topic, I really don’t like to do too many readings on the same issue in one week. The reading was about her family–it turned out pretty well, a good reading.
three of cups
For the longest time, I was resistant to using tarot. But for some reason, I am really growing fond of my Robin Wood deck. It is easy to work with. I am seriously going to need to practice more with my ogham, because I can’t just look at them and know what they mean like I can with my tarot. The ogham are also not as good for romance based readings as most of the kennings that go with each one are more adventure based. I suppose with more practice I will be able to read them with ease.

Mandrake Grimoire Page
I am obsessively raising buckets full of mandrakes. I bring them outside every morning to get sunlight and inside every cold night to save them from frost. A few are struggling to grow big leaves. So I mixed up some bone powder and coffee grounds in water to feed them. I am also collecting gold coins for them. I have three so far, but as there are five pots, I am waiting to start until I have two more.
I have drawn a page for Mandrakes in my newest grimoire–I always am starting new ones, I want to get it just right ya know. It looks really cool, the paper is good at absorbing the dragons blood ink without smearing or running overmuch. But I am stuck at what to put on that first page. I have been searching for the perfect spell or poem to put there. I have a few ideas–I want something that is pretty old and creepy sounding. I think I am going to try composing my own poem or spell for it. I want to include a section about cultivating and feeding the mandrakes first, maybe I should wait to see what works for sure before I write it in.
dragons blood ink
Someone contacted me in my shop about my dragon’s blood ink, they wanted to know if I make doves blood and bats blood too. I could very well. But I am too broke to buy the vodka and red wine right now–though I have all the other ingredients. I was thinking of perhaps making a super super small batch. And I am kicking myself for having made the dragons blood ink all at once. You don’t have to add the final colors until you bottle it and sell it. Next time I will make the base and not add the colors until I am selling the inks. Perhaps I should scent the other two differently as well? I am not exactly sure how I would do that.

Magic is using occult practices to effect the world and fate. This can be done a number of ways–all of them are mysterious because occult is hidden knowledge. A person can be shown the mysteries and still not understand or make use of them. Some people just don’t have the ability for it. Some have the ability but won’t put in the effort. Still others will only bother if someone makes them. And even others will try for a bit, learn a bit and stop there with the basics and stay basic forever. Magic isn’t for everyone and it takes occult knowledge create magic.
